Gender Equity
Under the EEH, special attention is being given to the needs of boys in targeted project schools. The purpose of the Gender Component is primarily to increase awareness of the ways in which gender influences classroom practices and learning. The main strategy being used is the delivery of gender training workshops to all stakeholders, but primarily to teachers and parents. Other strategies being used include:
- Action research conducted in schools to identify classroom variables which impact the educational and social performance of boys.
- Examination and analysis of performance and classroom observation data to inform teaching and learning interventions.
- Recommendations to EEH project schools based on research findings, best practices and performance data to improve performance of boys at the primary level.
